Already an acknowledged leader in Brazil and Latin America, in 2009, Simpson Thacher opened an office in São Paulo, Brazil, complementing and building on the Firm's longstanding Latin America practice. The Latin America practice group consists of 25 attorneys most of whom speak Spanish and/or Portuguese, who share a breadth of experience and knowledge practicing throughout the region. Our team routinely advises on transactions that span all corporate disciplines, including equity and debt offerings, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, private equity investments and fund formation, syndicated loans, and project and other structured financings. The Firm also advises clients in major disputes and arbitrations involving corporate and sovereign clients in the region. We believe that our presence in São Paulo in conjunction with our familiarity with local culture and practice will further enhance our ability to service our clients locally and around the globe.
